Group Therapy en Las Palmas
Group therapy in Las Palmas: share, learn and grow in a safe space with others. Ideal for social anxiety, mutual support and personal growth.
Group therapy brings together several people with a psychologist in a safe and confidential space. It allows you to share experiences, receive mutual support and learn from others while working on your own goals. It is especially useful for social anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, or when you want to feel part of a shared process.
When can group therapy help you?
Social anxiety or shyness
When you find it hard to relate or feel judged; the group offers a controlled setting to practise and gain confidence.
Feeling isolated
When you feel alone with your problem; hearing others in similar situations reduces shame and normalises what you are going through.
Need for mutual support
When you benefit from giving and receiving support; the group becomes a network of containment and motivation.
You want other perspectives
When it helps to see how others cope with similar situations; it broadens your repertoire of solutions.
Preference for a more affordable option
Group therapy usually has a lower cost per session than individual therapy while maintaining the quality of the process.
Benefits of group therapy
How does the process work?
Initial assessment
A first individual session or brief interview to understand your situation and check that the group is right for you.
Group sessions
Regular sessions with a small number of participants and clear rules on confidentiality and respect.
Follow-up and closure
Monitoring each participant's progress and closing the process when agreed objectives are reached.
Group therapy methodology
Group therapy in Las Palmas is run with a small number of participants and a psychologist who facilitates the process. We combine group dynamics (sharing experiences, peer feedback, role-playing) with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles: identifying thoughts and behaviours that maintain distress, practising new ways of acting and between-session tasks. Confidentiality and respect rules are explicit from day one.
The group does not replace individual therapy when that is needed; sometimes they are combined (e.g. individual and group sessions) or group is recommended when the person benefits from mutual support and practising social skills in a safe setting.
What to expect in group therapy
Initial assessment
An individual session or brief interview to understand your situation and check that the group fits your goals. We explain schedules, frequency, number of participants and rules. If there is a place, you join the next cycle.
Group sessions
Regular sessions (e.g. weekly) of similar length to an individual session, with the group and therapist. Each session has a structure (review, topic or exercise, tasks). Participation is voluntary but you are encouraged to speak and practise within the group.
Follow-up and closure
At the end of the cycle or when you reach your goals, we hold an individual or group closing session. You can ask for a place in a future group if you wish.
