We work on active listening, expressing needs without attacking the other, managing anger and negotiating important decisions. When there is distrust (infidelity, secrets), we address the repair process and the agreements the couple needs to move forward.
Sessions are typically fortnightly or weekly depending on the phase. In the first sessions we assess the history of the relationship, the points of conflict and what each person expects from therapy. We set basic rules (no interrupting, no belittling) and shared goals. From there we work in session and with tasks at home (guided conversations, communication exercises).

How we work in couples therapy
Joint and individual assessment
In the first sessions we listen to both of you: how you see the relationship, what hurts or worries you and what you would like to change. Sometimes we have an individual session with each of you to hear your perspective more freely. We define shared goals and the rules for the therapy work.
Work on communication and patterns
Sessions in which we practise active listening, expressing needs without blame and resolving conflict. We identify patterns that repeat (avoidance, criticism, disconnection) and work on alternatives. Between-session tasks reinforce what we practise in the room.
Consolidation and follow-up
When the couple has a healthier communication base, we space out sessions and prepare for closure. We leave the door open to return if a new crisis or unfinished issue arises in the future.
